Description
Through music, dance, and theatre, we journey with Rosa as she escapes a dangerous relationship, accesses the tools and support to begin healing, and navigates discrimination as an immigrant mother. Sistas Calling captivates audiences and sparks the conversation to generate ideas towards an end to violence and racism globally.
Written and directed by Dr. Roz Roach, Sistas Calling tells the story of a survivor named Rosa who escapes abuse, heals her trauma, and overcomes social injustices, to transform and emerge resilient and empowered. The soundtrack was written, composed, and recorded by Dr. Roz, blending calypso, pop, folk, spoken word, and electronic music to provide a vibrant soundscape for audiences.
The SCOPE (Sistas Calling Outreach & Public Education) Program was designed by Dr. Roz of Dr. Roz’s Healing Place with the intention of calling on the global community, particularly men, to work together to dismantle violence against women and children. The cornerstone of the SCOPE program is the album, Dr. Roz & Sistas, and the stage production, Sistas Calling. SCOPE seeks to spread powerful messaging using music, art, and performance to reach the public in an authentic and immersive way.
